Arab Parliaments and Darfur crisis

15-16 April 2009 – Cairo

Within the framework of The Arab Coalition for Darfur's pursue to activate the Arab and regional movements on Darfur cause and its humanitarian, legal and cognitive aftermath and out of The Arab Coalition's strong belief in the positive role of the Arab Parliaments in implementing the cause by adopting a certain mechanism to protect the civilians and the resources of Darfur ,  the Coalition organizes a workshop entitled "The Arab Parliaments and Darfur crisis" in 15-16 April 2009 on Oum Kalthoum Hotel-Zamalik-Cairo.

In this context, the Coalition invited 17 members of Arab Parliaments from Sudan, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Yemen,  Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq and Mauritania to take part in the workshop in addition to the members of the executive secretariat of the Coalition as well as many other intellectuals, writers and journalists who are concerned by the cause.

The first session will open with the address of the Head of the Human Rights Administration in the League of Arab states, Mr. Mahmoad Rashid and the Secretary General of The Arab Coalition for Darfur, Mr. Haggag Nayel. Meanwhile, the Session will be attended by the Parliamentarians Mr. Ramadan Hassan, Mr. Moastafa Al Gendy, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim El Beltagy, Dr. Edraous Al Naqib, Mr. Yahia Hassan and Mr. Mohamed Shaaban. In addition to the members of the Coalition in Egypt.   

The workshop aims at rallying the support of the Arab Parliaments so as to impose the cause of Darfur before their Parliaments to implement the regional movement to the cause  of  Darfur. Besides, the Parliaments will be introduced to the major role of the Coalition and the activities that will be held.

Moreover, during the workshop, the Coalition will state its wide vision on the cause of Darfur by representing the recent developments and actions as well as revealing the important role of the Arab Parliaments. Besides, the Coalition and the Arab Parliaments will agree on a joint Plan of Action to work on the crisis of Darfur.

التحالف العربى من أجل دارفور

ورشة عمل البرلمانيين العرب

        فى إطار سعى التحالف العربى من أجل دارفور لتفعيل الحراك الإقليمى العربى نحو قضية دارفور وتداعياتها الإنسانية والقانونية والمعرفية ، ورغبة من التحالف العربى فى حث البرلمانيين العرب للتحرك الإيجابى نحو القضية من خلال تبنى واستنباط آليات محددة لحماية المدنيين والموارد بإقليم دارفور ينظم التحالف ورشة عمل بعنوان ( البرلمانيين العرب وأزمة دارفور ) من 15- 16 ابريل 2009 بفندق أم كلثوم – الزمالك – القاهرة .

          وقد قام التحالف بدعوة 17  عضوا من البرلمانيين العرب الممثلين للأقطار العربية (السودان ومصر والجزائر والمغرب وموريتانيا واليمن والبحرين والعراق والأردن) ذلك بمشاركة أعضاء السكرتارية التنفيذية للتحالف العربى، ولفيف من المفكرين والكتاب والصحفيين والمعنيين بأزمة دارفور .

          يلقى كلمة الافتتاح الأستاذ محمود راشد "مدير إدارة حقوق الإنسان بجامعة الدول العربية" والأستاذ حجاج نايل "أمين عام التحالف" وبحضور السادة النواب، رمضان حسن ومصطفى الجندى والدكتور والدكتور محمد إبراهيم البلتاجى والدكتور عيداروس النقيب ويحي حسن ومحمد عبد العزيز شعبان .

          وستقام الورشة بحضور أعضاء فرع التحالف العربى من أجل دارفور بجمهورية مصر العربية

          تهدف ورشة العمل إلى كسب تأييد البرلمانيين العرب للمساعدة فى طرح قضية دارفور أمام البرلمانات العربية وتفعيل الحراك الإقليمى من أجل دارفور ، ذلك من خلال تعريف البرلمانيين بدور التحالف والأنشطة المنوط بتنفيذها .

          كما سيقوم التحالف بتوضيح رؤيته حول قضية دارفور عن طريق عرض المستجدات والتطورات الأخيرة وتوضيح وإبراز دور البرلمانيين العرب من أجل دارفور ، كما أنه سيتم الاتفاق على خطة عمل مشتركة للتنسيق بين التحالف والبرلمانيين العرب من أجل دارفور .
