Global Day of Action for Sudan: 9th January 2010
On the 9th January 2010, thousands of people will gather around the world to call on world leaders to prevent a return to conflict in Sudan.
The effort comes with one year remaining until a referendum that will decide the future unity of Sudan, and falls on the fifth anniversary of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. With growing violence in the South, the agreement is in danger of collapsing.
The global initiative is being supported by artists around the world, including Egyptian star Mohamed Mounir and Mr. Yahia Khalil, who will be featured in a film released to coincide with the launch of the campaign. The film features drummers from six continents, all following a beat for peace led by drummers in North and South Sudan.
Events are planned by a number of organisations in capitals from Washington to London, Nairobi to Cairo.

التحالف العربي من أجل دارفور
اليوم العالمي للتحرك من أجل السودان: 9 يناير/كانون الثاني 2010
سوف يحتشد الآلاف من جميع أنحاء العالم في التاسع من يناير/كانون الثاني 2010 لدعوة زعماء العالم إلى العمل على عدم تجدد النزاع واحتواء الصراعات في السودان .
هذا الجُهد يأتي مع بقاء عام واحد على الاستفتاء المقرر عقده من أجل تقرير مستقبل السودان، ويتزامن مع الذكرى الخامسة لإبرام اتفاق السلام الشامل. ومع تصعيد العنف في الجنوب، يتعرض الاتفاق لخطر الانهيار.
المبادرة العالمية تنطلق بدعم من الفنانين في شتى أرجاء العالم، منهم النجم المصري محمد منير والاستاذ يحي خليل، وسوف تشهد المبادرة أيضاً عرض فيلم يتزامن إصداره مع إطلاق المبادرة. ويعرض الفيلم إيقاعات علي الطبول من بعض الفنانين من خمس قارات، في إيقاع متزامن وواحد على الطبل للمطالبة بالسلام .
من المقرر عقد الفعاليات من قبل عدة منظمات في عواصم منها واشنطن ولندن ونيروبي والقاهرة.
