The Ranger (TX): Speaker urges joining grassroots action to stop genocide in Darfur. Everyone has a moral obligation to join the movement and take action in stopping the genocide in Darfur, a member of the grassroots nonprofit organization Save Darfur said Feb. 11 in the Fiesta Room in Loftin Student Center. "There is silence and people need to know," Deri Ricard said. "What you do matters." She spoke to a crowd of about 90 after a 12-minute documentary "Violence Against Women and the Darfur Genocide," based on the systematic use of rape as a weapon of war in Darfur, Sudan. The event was a live webcast event sponsored by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Save Darfur Coalition. More than 200 faith-based advocacy and human rights organizations from around the world participated in the event.

Politico: Just cause: Maria Bello stopped by the Holocaust Museum to talk Darfur. Acclaimed actress Maria Bello spoke at the Holocaust Museum last week as part of "One Night, One Voice" -- which centered on the Save Darfur theme, most specifically ending violence against women.
