Sudan Tribune: Darfur groups reject merger with JEM before peace talks.  After talks with the peace mediation team in Doha, the venue of the talks, two Darfur groups expressed their readiness for unity and talks with the government but rejected a merger with the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).  The Sudan Liberation Movement Revolutionary Forces (SLM-RF), which is a group supported by the Libyan government, and a group of rebel factions called the Addis Ababa group, which is supported by the US envoy to Sudan, held talks with the mediators. The mediators are seeking to reunite the rebel groups before engaging in direct talks with the Sudanese delegation.

BBC News: Sudan's ousted Sadiq al-Mahdi enters election race.  Former Sudanese Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi has announced he will stand against current leader Omar al-Bashir in a forthcoming presidential election. Mr Mahdi was elected in Sudan's last multi-party vote in 1986, but was overthrown by Mr Bashir in a 1989 coup.

Reuters: U.S. concerned about arms flowing to South Sudan. 
The United States is worried about the flow of arms into semi-autonomous southern Sudan, some of it heavy weapons, ahead of a nationwide April election, the U.S. envoy to the United Nations said on Tuesday.

: Sudan: German Ambassador Visits South. 
The German Ambassador to Sudan, Mr. Rainner Eberle, yesterday paid a visit to UNAMID's regional headquarters in Nyala, South Darfur. The diplomat's mission was to gain a better picture of the situation in the region, as the country prepares for national elections scheduled for April 2010.
