Reuters: Sudan security re-arrests Darfur rebels: lawyer.  Sudanese security officials arrested 15 Darfur rebels weeks after the country's president pardoned and freed them, their lawyer said on Wednesday, amid signs that a peace deal with their insurgent force was faltering.  JEM has since threatened to pull out of further peace talks hosted in the Qatari capital Doha in protest at Khartoum's plans to sign a similar accord with another insurgent grouping.

Agence France-Presse: Sudan to sign deal with small Darfur rebel group.
The Sudanese government is to sign a deal with a small Darfur rebel group, the Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM), this week as talks with the larger Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) falter, a minister said. The deal with the LJM -- an alliance of splinter rebel factions formed last month -- comes after a deadline set for the completion of peace negotiations between Khartoum and the JEM passed without agreement on Monday.

Change.org: The Campaign Posters of Dictators.  Even dictators appreciate the shiny veneer of perceived electoral legitimacy, though their rigged polls and repressive policies leave the rest of us wondering just who they think they're fooling.  And every dictator has his own campaigning style.   Bashir paints himself as the harbinger of peace and prosperity for all of Sudan, Mugabe threatens to usher in the apocalypse if he's asked to relinquish power.  According to Save Darfur's Sean Brooks, who recently returned from Sudan, Bashir's campaign billboards show his smiling face alongside doves and images of large-scale development projects.
