Global Day for Darfur

Senegal:

April 13: RADDHO and WARIPNET are organizing a series of activities in Dakar. These activities will focus on the promotion and protection of the rights of Darfuri children. The slogan of this coming fifth Global Day will be “STOP! Childhood under”.

A roundtable will be organised on the humanitarian and security situation of Darfuri children in general and specifically in camps. This roundtable will be held at Hotel Ndiambour in Dakar. RADDHO and WARIPNET will work in close conjunction with specialized Inter-governmental organisations such as UNICEF, international organisations like Save the Children, African and Senegalese organisations. The main objective of the roundtable is not only to draw the attention of the public opinion on the situation of the Darfuri children situation, but also to call upon the Senegalese diplomacy, to continue their positive actions towards the file of Darfur but promoting the rights of children.

A video showing will be presented before the starting of the roundtable at hotel le Niambour. The video showing will be on the Darfuri refugees and internally displaced. This will be an opportunity for the audience to hear the testimony of the Darfuri victims of forced migration and also the different problems they are facing, but also it will enable the participants to see through the screen how they are living specially children and women.

A photo exhibition on Darfuri refugees and internally displaced persons will be also organized at Hotel Niambour during the Fifth Global Day for Darfur.

After the roundtable radio programmes will be organised in order to better discuss not only about the situation of children in Darfur but also about the peace process and many important things relating to the conflict.
